Sony Announces the 1.5GHz Dual-Core, 12MP and 720p Screen Xperia S

Wow CES has shown us so many cool new devices already and it’s barely even started. Let’s talk about the newly announced Sony Xperia S, we have seen it leaked for quite a while now. Sony has dropped the Sony Ericsson brand name, and made this the Sony Xperia S. The Xperia Ion has all the same specs and features as the Xperia S except for LTE Support, unfortunately it’s a HSPA-only device.

Now for the goodies, the Xperia S is packing a huge 12-megapixel camera, 4.3-inch chassis with a 720p display. Of course we have a nice 1.5Ghz Dual-core Processor inside running this bad boy. The Xperia S is joining the Nexus family (and a few other phones) that have NFC – Near Field Communication – support. This device will ship running Android 2.3 – Gingerbread but has been promised an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, we just don’t know when that will be.

The Xperia S will be available starting in the second quarter of 2012, but it will not be on Sprint or Verizon, since it is a HSPA-only device. Feel free to read the full press release below and check out the photo gallery as well and let us know what you think.
